Fireside Chats


All ages are welcome for these fun and informational programs! They are held on the second Thursday of every month from 6:30 – 8 p.m., from April through October. Bluff Lake will bring in experts to explain the wonders and mysteries of our environment. Join us for s’mores during each program! This program is FREE, treats cost $1.

April 11th: Skulls and Skins with Bluff Lake Youth Education
Join our environmental educators to learn about some of the wild animals that can be found at Bluff Lake. You will get to see and touch animal pelts, bones, antlers, and sheddings, as well as molds of their tracks and scat.

May 23rd: Whose Scat is That? with South Platte River Environmental Education (SPREE)
Scat and tracks can tell us a lot about animals! Join SPREE to learn about the critters of  Denver and the South Platte River by examining the clues they leave behind.

June 13th: Musical Storytime with Music for Aardvarks
Music for Aardvarks is a refreshing alternative to traditional kids’ music class. Our presenter will share favorite tunes and beloved children’s tales.

July 11th: Bug Safari with The Butterfly Pavilion
In Bug Safari, guests meet invertebrates from environments around the globe, hear about characteristics, where and how they live, and why they are important in our world.

August 8th: A Visit from Baby Goats with The Urban Farm
Come meet some cute baby animals visiting from The Urban Farm, and learn what it takes to take care of them.

September 12th: Animals of the Wizarding World with Nature’s Educators
Some of these fantastical beasts are real-life creatures! Meet our live animal guests for yourself, learn about their diets & habitats, and help your kids get excited about reading. Costumes encouraged!

October 10th: Dinosaur Ridge and the Environment with Dinosaur Ridge
Dr. Libby Frueher invites you to learn about the past environments from the study of Dinosaur Ridge. You will also get to be up close and personal with dinosaur fossils!
