Bluff Lake Weed Warriors: On Wednesday mornings, a small group of volunteers meets at Bluff Lake to work on restoration projects. Hours are 9am-12pm during the spring and fall, and 8-11am during the summer. Depending on the week, the group plants willows or other trees, pulls invasive species, collects seeds, or repairs trails. The work is geared for all skill levels, and you’re bound to learn quite a bit from our experienced core of volunteers and staff.

There is no need to register, but the schedule can vary; so if you are interested please contact Jacob Reta at

Neighborhood Partners Environmental Team: This volunteer group is led by the Sand Creek Regional Greenway Partnership, in collaboration with Bluff Lake Nature Center and the neighbors of Westerly Creek. From 9am-12pm on the first Saturday of each month, volunteers meet along the waterways of Sand Creek and Westerly Creek to remove invasive species, pick up trash, plant native trees, remove graffiti, and perform basic trail maintenance. The exact meeting location varies regularly based on need. All ages are welcome, and no training or prior volunteer experience is required.

For more information or to register, visit Neighborhood Partners Environmental Team, or contact Sand Creek Regional Greenway at or 303-468-3262.
