Northern Flicker
Medium-sized bird of the woodpecker family.
One of the few woodpecker species that migrates.
Two subspecies: Red-shafted (Western CO) and yellow-shafted (Eastern CO).
Crossing results in “intergrade” offspring with characteristics of both subspecies.
